TURN ON YOUR CAPS LOCK
 

NEVER use apostrophes  ' & or * in the FIRST OR LAST TWO FIELDS

If the name you are going to enter uses the& symbol in their name, you will need to spell it out as AND in the FIRST &/or Last TWO ENTRY fields

EXAMPLE:  Gen & Tonic  would be written in the FIRST field as
GENANDTONIC
but in the SECOND field you can write it as GEN & TONIC
 

In the FIRST and LAST TWO FIELDS there are NO SPACES between words
Example:   GENANDTONIC
 

In the FIRST and LAST TWO FIELDS your breeds EXTENSION has to be used
Know your extensions, a list is always here.

Gen & Tonic is a Tennessee Walking Horse so we need to add the EXTENSION after the name so that it will look like this  GENANDTONICTWH

If the same horse were a Quarter Horse it would look like this GENANDTONICAQHA

The Sire and Dam names must also be no spaces, no symbols with the correct EXTENSION for their breed
 

DO NOT enter names without the REGISTRATION #
 

ABBREVIATE STATES
 

If entering Color field also list the Gender. Below is the correct way to list in this field

So it would look like this   CHESTNUT MARE STAR N/H SOCK
 

Abbreviate things such as
Near Hind  = N/H
Off Hind = O/H
Off Fore = O/F
Near Fore = N/F
Mixed = MXD
Mane & Tail = M/T
 

If you don't know the color fill in that field as
COLOR: ?  MARE or whatever gender
 

The Breeder field
If you know the breeder please list it as BRED BY:
Please enter the name & city in regular lower case
Ex:  Kathy Sturkie - Swansea SC
 

Should you enter a name in the sire & dam field but you don't have their Registration #
Do not enter them when prompted on the next page. They will show after someone enters information into the db later with their registration information

AGAIN KNOW YOUR ABBREVIATION

Notice that the name you entered on the first page is now inserted into the first field.
Note: If the name in this field is incorrect you need to back up to the previous page & enter the correct name.

Note: the Horse I entered has the TWH abbreviation in the first field and the TWH is in
Sire & Dam name of the last two fields.
The abbreviation is necessary for the DB to work properly & if you leave it out, #1 we don't know what registry your entering a horse for & #2 It will be deleted.

We are stressing the importance of not using symbols or spaces in the First & Last Two entry fields due to the Database itself.
They may cause your information not to be displayed when searched from the public search area
or it may cause loss of that entries information.

PEDIGREE DATABASE ENTRY can be addictive!!!
Warning Signs:
Searching magazines for horses with pedigree information
Searching through old boxes for more magazines
Wishing you had made copies of all the horses you USED to own
Asking friends for their horses pedigree information
You friends giving it to you
You find yourself going to the Big Sales just for the Catalogs
You've seen every entry in your breeds registry
